In this post we explain how to get your unique explainer video in 5 steps.

Kick-off and start of production

In order to start the production process as efficiently as possible, there is usually a conversation between you and your explainer video agency before production begins - the so-called kick-off meeting. We Videobakers meet with you for this purpose via telephone or Google Meets.
In the kick-off meeting, all basic details and key data are discussed. This way, the agency gets a more precise picture of what you have in mind and can gather exactly the information needed to start production.
Afterwards, production can already begin.

Step 1: The script

The first step in making your explainer video is the script. The script is the basis of the video. It is the text that will explain your product. At Videobakers, the script is first created in text form by our script writer. Then it is sent to you for a first review. If you are satisfied with the draft, we move on to step two and the script is later recorded by the voice-over artist. If you have any suggestions for changes, we will of course adjust the script for you.

A strong story determines the success of your entire explainer video, as it drives both the audio and visual components and binds your viewer's attention. But back to the basics:

Step 2: The storyboard

Step two consists of creating a storyboard. The storyboard describes the general flow of the individual scenes of the video - i.e. in contrast to the script rather the visual structure of the video. Analogous to building a house, the storyboard can be understood like the floor plan of a house - subsequent changes lead to a lot of effort. Therefore, it is important that you only approve the storyboard when you are really satisfied with the sequence and structure of the scenes.

Step 3: The Theme

In the third step, you will choose your theme. The theme describes the basic style of the video. The theme is about the color scheme, shapes and style of the figures, characters, elements and backgrounds.
Videobakers will first draw the first three scenes of your storyboard in the chosen style and then present them to you. The goal is to give you an idea of what the video will look like based on these three scenes. This prevents you from realizing what your video will really look like until the end of the production.

Step 4: The illustration

With the start of the illustration, about 80% of the video is completed. The illustration of the scenes show exactly how each scene of the video will look in the end and what part of the script text will be spoken in the corresponding scene. The illustration is done in the style that was previously defined by you in the theme.

Step 5: The animation

After the illustration has been accepted by you, the individual scenes are finally animated and linked together. The video is now also backed with the voice-over including suitable background music and tadaaaaaa - the whole thing is finished!
